  • Hemp
  • What is the difference between marijuana and hemp?

Both are cannabis plants. Hemp refers to cannabis varieties containing below 0.3% THC, while marijuana refers to plants that contain high amounts of THC. With the passage of the 2018 Farm Bill, hemp is also a legal category of cannabis.

  • What is hemp?

Hemp is generally split into two categories: industrial (fiber-rich, low resin content) or medicinal (cannabinoid rich, high resin content). Industrially, its fibers and oils come from its stalks and seeds. Medicinally, the pharmacologically active compounds (such as CBD and THC) are derived from the flowers and leaves. Hemp and humanity have evolved together; it is the earliest example of industry. The versatility of the plant would have been invaluable to early human cultures.

  • What is Hemp Extract?

Hemp extract is the oil byproduct of the resin glands that cover the flowers and leaves of the hemp plant. The resin contains the bulk of the cannabinoids, including CBD. Through a cold and slow alcohol extraction process the resin from the flower and leaves of the hemp plant is distilled from the plant.

  • What is broad spectrum?

Broad Spectrum means oil with a pharmacologically active profile that represents the whole plant; including terpenes (chemicals responsible for its aroma), other cannabinoids (there are more than 100; CBD is just one of them), and less than .3% THC. Preclinical research indicates CBD-rich hemp extract oil is effective at much lower doses and has a wider therapeutic window than a CBD isolate.

  • CBD
  • What is CBD?

CBD or cannabidiol is a pharmacologically active compound that naturally occurs in the resinous flower of hemp. CBD is one of more than a hundred phytocannabinoids, which are unique to hemp and endow the plant with its robust therapeutic profile. In general, CBD has been shown to be anti-spasmodic, anti-anxiety, pain relieving , mood boosting, and anti-inflammatory.

  • What is the best way to ingest CBD?

Taking Treaty Hemp Extract formula under the tongue allows for greater absorption of the active compounds. The mucous membranes of our mouth are very thin, and compounds can pass through relatively easily. This means that holding the formula under your tongue for thirty seconds to one minute will have a stronger effect than just swallowing it right away. Nearly 35% of cannabinoids administered sublingually are absorbed by the body. Onset: 15 min – 1.5 hours Duration: 4-6 hours.

  • How does CBD work?

CBD does not directly interact with the molecular targets known as ‘receptors’ within the endocannabinoid system. CBD interacts with at least sixty-five molecular targets outside of the endocannabinoid system. It’s interaction with 5-HT1a, a serotonin receptor, could account for its anti-anxiety effects, and its interaction with two opioid receptors could explain its painkilling ones. The number of targets with which CBD interacts could explain why CBD has applications across such a broad spectrum of ailments.

  • What is the endocannabinoid system?

The endocannabinoid system or ECS is distributed throughout the body, however, it is most concentrated in the central and peripheral nervous systems. The ECS is composed of two cannabinoid receptors (CB1 and CB2), the compounds in our bodies that naturally activate them (endocannabinoids), and the enzymes that break down those compounds. The ECS responds to both the cannabinoids produced in the body (endocannabinoids) and responds to cannabinoids produced by plants (phytocannabinoids). The ECS helps the body maintain homeostasis, which means providing a state of internal stability necessary for survival, despite fluctuations in our external environment. It helps to regulate, through maintenance of homeostasis, physiological and cognitive processes including pre- and postnatal development, appetite, pain sensation, mood, and memory.

  • What is a cannabinoid?

A cannabinoid is an active chemical compound that acts on the endocannabinoid system. There are three categories of cannabinoids:
    -Phytocannabinoids: Cannabinoids produced by plants.
-Endocannabinoids: Cannabinoids produced by living animals, including humans, that interact with the body’s endocannabinoid system.
-Synthetic cannabinoids: Cannabinoids produced by humans in a laboratory.
